Welcome to DESIGN SEED!

Arthur’s Room Hotel in Aranya, China, is a rare hybrid of bookstore, café, cultural space, and boutique hotel, all merged into a single architectural experience by B.L.U.E Architecture Studio for cultural brand naive IMAGINIST.

Set against a landscape of forest and lake, the building stands out immediately with its bold red concrete facade and layered volumes. But beyond its striking exterior, the real story lies in how the architecture reshapes the idea of a hotel.

At ground level, public life is fully embraced. A bookstore flows directly into the reception, while the café opens outward towards the waterfront, dissolving the boundaries between guest and visitor. Semi-outdoor courtyards carve through the structure, bringing in light, air, and moments of pause that connect building to nature.

Inside, the experience is deliberately different. There are no conventional lounges or spaces with TVs. Instead, long reading tables, integrated bookshelves, and quiet communal zones define the interiors. Every suite is oriented toward the lake, designed not just for rest, but for reading, writing, and extended time spent within the room itself.

More than a place to stay, Arthur’s Room Hotel functions as a cultural space, one that prioritises time, slowness, and human presence over efficiency and program.
